Paradise Redwood Archival pigment print 52 ¾ x 32 ½ inches, 2022
This redwood tree is growing in Paradise California. It survived The Camp Fire, the deadliest and most destructive wildfire in California's history and the most expensive natural disaster in the world in 2018 in terms of insured losses. It is named after Camp Creek Road, its place of origin. Surviving the fire is a feat of its’ own but redwood trees tend to do this. But I wanted to make this picture because people have deliberately chosen to save it as the grounds around are being cleared some 4 years later. It stands like an icon of hope.
